Happy New Year from all of us at Kamp Kizzy!!!!

We have had a busy year and would like to thank everyone that helped to make it possible and we are looking forward to many more.

2011 was our inaugural kickoff for Kamp Kizzy in July. Our goal was to sponsor 100 girls to attend the weekend camp filled with workshops to empower one another…. and we did just that!!!! The diverse group of girls between the ages of 11-16 came from all over the United States including California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, North Carolina, Illinois, Alabama, Indiana and of course Georgia.

Kamp Kizzy did not end there!!!  We planned several activities in our efforts to stay connected with our Kamp Kizzy Families that included a trip to Phillips Arena to watch the Atlanta Dream Basketball Team play the Connecticut Suns.  We were also invited to participate with The Alliance Theatre in their production of The Real Tweenagers of Atlanta.

In November Kamp Kizzy teamed up with The Ludacris Foundation to feed 500 families for Thanksgiving. The Kamp Kizzy girls and their families along with SKIRTS ( Sisters Keeping It Real Through Service) were a huge help in passing out the Gift Baskets, Collard Greens, Sweet Potatoes and Turkeys to the families in need.  A special thank you to Spelman College Student Government Association for their donation of 80 complete baskets.

We are elated to announce that Spelman College will also host our 2nd Annual Kamp Kizzy Weekend on July 19-22, 2012, so save the date!!! Applications and additional information will be posted on the website in the spring of the year.
